HEART OF A WOMAN-CORAZON DE MUJER is María Cangiano's first CD with her own original songs, music and the lyrics of Latin American women poets such as Alfonsina Storni, Gabriela Mistral, María Fernanda Hubeaut and her own. The songs blend her own personal journey through many musical traditions from Classical, Jazz, Blues to Latin American folklore, Afro and Rock/pop. Heart of a Woman is a journey to the depth of a woman's heart, her emotions, weaknesses, strength and wisdom. María has practiced Nichiren's Daishonin Buddhism for the last 15 years thus this journey mainly means the uncovering of the true nature of a woman's heart: Her Buddha nature. Practicioners of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism chant the title of the Lotus Sutra. It is in the core of this Sutra where for the first time Siddharta, the original Buddha, revealed that women can also become enlightened. This has inspired the song that gives the name to the cd: Corazón de mujer that is actually the heart of a Buddha. The cd has original arrangements and recording by two major Argentine musicians: guitar/composer Quique Sinesi and percussionist/composer Quintino Cinalli. It has also the participation of Shakere virtuoso Kevin Nathaniel Hylton.
The CD designed shows Argentine visual artist Marcela Sol own vision of a woman's heart. Marcela has produced a series of 10 paintings inspired by the songs of the cd as well as María Cangiano's life. Italian multimedia artist Salvo Genovesi did the photography and Argentine filmmaker Javier Gonçalves had done the trailer and video clips.
HEART OF A WOMAN will be released by EPSA, one of the major Argentine record companies in 2013.
